Loft Boarding

We board more than 150 lofts per year, from making simple storage platforms around the hatch to complete loft floor and roof lining. We first beam out your loft with treated structural wooden beams, which allows the insulation to breath. These beams also distribute weight across the loft floor, then we board over the tops of the beams with resin impregnated tongue and groove chip board. All wood is treated with pesticide fungicide and fire retardants so there is no chance of contamination by mould, or pests like wood worm.

The boarding we install is only for reasonable storage use, and is not intended to change the attic into a habitable room or loft conversion.

To ensure how much weight your loft can take please consult a structural engineer. You must get planning permission from your local planning authority for a loft conversion where you are intending to use your loft space for habitation.

Loft Insulation

Many older houses in the south east don’t yet benefit from the tremendous fuel savings brought by having modern loft insulation. Saving energy with efficient insulation not only keeps you cosier, it saves money because you spend less on heating too. Because heat rises it is very important to professionally insulate your loft with a modern insulation to keep warmth in, drafts out, and money in the bank.
